Statement of Understanding (PLEASE READ IN FULL)

The Prometheus to Blackboard Conversion Tool, provided by Blackboard, Inc. is designed to convert course content from Prometheus into the Blackboard @ GW platform.  This document provides detail as to what is and what is not converted from Prometheus to Blackboard @ GW.  Please read and agree to the terms on this page, and request a specific course conversion on the next page. • Upon request, the Prometheus course owned by the requestor will undergo the conversion process within the following ten business days, after which the resulting course will appear in requestor's Blackboard account.
• For security, a verification e-mail will be sent to requestor's @gwu.edu e-mail address and a reply is required for activation of the conversion request.
• Requestor will receive Email confirmation that conversion is complete, and a link to the ITL workshop registration page. 
• Conversion may occur once, by request, for any given Prometheus course, per instructor.
• The Instructional Technology Lab staff is responsible for fulfilling the request for conversion by engaging the Conversion Tool and process provided by Blackboard, Inc.
• The Instructional Technology Lab staff is not responsible for and will not edit content within Blackboard @ GW once the conversion has taken place.
• Once the course is in the converted state within Blackboard @ GW, this course is taken AS IS by the requestor of the course, and any editing of the course to correct formatting or content arrangement is the sole responsibility of noted owner.
• Please be aware that the ITL will provide Best Effort when engaging the conversion tool, as well as remain accessible for consultation once conversion has taken place.

• The conversion tool is creating Announcements within your Blackboard course for each instance in which you had Files associated with Outline Sessions in Prometheus. You can remove these Announcments by going to the Control Panel > Announcements > Remove one by one.
• Any content that was formatted in Prometheus using the WYSIWYG HTML editor (e.g. font color, size, hyperlinks) will appear the same to students in Bb@GW.  However, when one edits this content within the resulting Blackboard course, the content will appear strictly as HTML code.  IF YOU NEED TO EDIT COURSE TEXT AND YOU'RE NOT OKAY EDITING HTML CODE, DO NOT USE THIS TOOL!
• When you Course Copy content from your new Blackboard course into an Official semester course, DO NOT copy the Gradebook from the converted course. Build your Bb Gradebook items from scratch.
• Importing Tests and Surveys from Prometheus to Blackboard seems to be hit or miss.Trouble tickets have been submitted to Blackboard, Inc.
• Some issues with Files have been reported. Trouble tickets have been submitted to Blackboard, Inc.
• Therefore, if you want more immediate gratification with the functionality in Blackboard, Build Tests and post problematic Files from scratch.
• If you use randomization in Prometheus Tests, we strongly recommend unchecking randomization for the Tests prior to requesting conversion. The converted course will not be easily edited if randomization is checked in Prometheus. If you have questions about this, contact ITL at x40485.
