Add Assignment

Have students turn in their papers online using Blackboard. The Assignment tool gives your students a link to upload the files. When they select the View/Complete Assignment link, they get your instructions, a space to add comments about the assignment, and a way to upload one or more files. Your students can upload any kind of file to be graded – Word document, PowerPoint file, photograph, audio file, movie file, etc. Once a student has submitted an Assignment, they are not able to re-submit or take back the file.

The Assignment Tool automatically creates a column in your gradebook, and the files are stored in the Gradebook for you to review. All files for this assignment are located in the Gradebook column for the Assignment. The Gradebook entry tells you the date and time that the student submitted the Assignment.

To add an Assignment to a Content Area

  1. Control Panel > [Name of destination Content Area] (from Content Areas pane)
  2. Using the drop down box to the right of the ADD action bar, choose Assignment.
  3. Click GO.
  4. Give your Assignment a title.
  5. Fill in the number of points for the Assignment.
  6. Type or paste your instructions in the white text box editor.
  7. Choose date restrictions, if necessary in section 2.
  8. Attach a file, if necessary in section 3.
  9. Submit.
